CEAS Tribunal - Social Events Intern

Honors Experience One

When I joined CEAS Tribunal as a Social Events Intern during my freshman year, I wanted to get involved and meet new people. However, I didn’t anticipate how much this experience would shape my growth. I discovered a passion for building inclusive communities, leading with empathy, and creating moments of connection for engineering students.

Weekly intern sessions and mentorship from upperclassmen helped me navigate college life while building lasting friendships. My mentors were not only advisors but also listeners who shared their own experiences, empowering me to step out of my comfort zone and take initiative. I helped plan events like trivia nights, a boat-building competition, and an intern pancake and grilled cheese social. These spaces were specifically designed to bring students together as well as boost comradery among the engineering student body .These events taught me event logistics, but more importantly, how small gestures can create a big impact.

Through volunteering with CEAS Tribunal at the Career Fair and EXPO, I learned how student-led efforts can support the broader college community. The semesterly Spring Retreat in was a turning point and an unforgettable experience. Deepening my commitment to leadership and reminding me of the importance of reflection and relationship-building.

This experience aligns with the UHP value of Inclusion. Whether through event planning or teamwork, we focused on creating spaces where everyone felt welcome and valued. It has inspired me to pursue leadership roles that blend technical impact with people-centered purpose as well as to continue this initiative during my undergraduate years at UC.
